Washington Capitals goaltender Braden Holtby celebrated his 20th consecutive start in style on Wednesday night, shutting out the Philadelphia Flyers 1-0.
Holtby deferred the credit after the game, preferring to focus on his defense's work in front of him.
“Different plays are different,” Holtby said, via the Washington Post. “As a goalie, you always notice the hardest saves you think are the ones you don’t notice. But I thought tonight, especially they have such a good rush game, such a good interchanging game when they’re coming across the top of the circles, when they did get a few looks, we had some great sticks and great gaps to shut those out.”

Holtby had to make just 21 saves to preserve the shutout, but coach Barry Trotz still sees room for improvement on the defense.
“I thought we were a little bit loose at times,” Coach Barry Trotz said. “We relied on Braden a little bit too much in the second period. We lost our high forward a few times and they were able to break out and they bailed us out pretty good. Overall, almost every period we were good for about 10 minutes, then we were a little on our heels at times, more so than I wanted to be. When we needed a good save or a PK or whatever, I thought Braden was real solid for us.”
