TFC meets president Manning’s eight-point target

It wasn’t long after Bill Manning’s arrival at Toronto FC last fall that the club’s new president publicly proclaimed his expectation for the Reds’ opening eight-game road trip: anything less than eight points would be a bust.

The club reached that tally with relative ease in its sixth game of the season Sunday — a 1-0 win over DC United.

While that’s now behind the Reds, that doesn’t mean coach Greg Vanney is breathing a sigh of relief.

“We, quite frankly, knew we would hit that target and now it’s about getting more points behind us if we can and we move through these last two games before we come home,” he said this week.
