Sebastian Giovinco helps TFC beat Montreal

MONTREAL—Coach Greg Vanney said it was likely the best game Toronto FC has played in his two seasons with the club.

It could not have gone much better as Sebastian Giovinco scored his fifth and sixth goals in seven games this season — all on the road — and the TFC defence shut down Didier Drogba in a 2-0 victory over the rival Montreal Impact on Saturday afternoon.

The reigning Major League Soccer MVP scored from the penalty spot in the first half and on a counterattack in the second as Toronto (3-2-2) won a second game in a row and continued their strong form on a season-opening eight-game road trip that has one game remaining next week at Portland.
