Phillies News: Philadelphia to sign free agent pitchers Wandy Rodriguez & Aaron Harang?

The Philadelphia Phillies have been very active this offseason in their efforts to retool the roster, and GM Ruben Amaro Jr. says that more moves are coming soon.

“We’re working on adding some pitching,” Amaro told CSNPhilly.com late Wednesday afternoon. “We could be announcing something in the next few days.”

While Amaro declined to name names, but sources indicated to CSNPhilly.com that the Phillies have agreed to a minor-league contract with veteran lefty Wandy Rodriguez, pending a physical.

In addition, sources tell CSNPhilly.com that Philadelphia has also looked into the possibility of signing free-agent righty Aaron Harang. Harang, 37, went 12-12 with the Atlanta Braves last season, posting a 3.57 ERA in 204.1 innings (33 starts).

The Phillies are in major need of pitching depth, especially if trade rumors surrounding ace Cole Hamels actually have legs. While neither a Rodriguez signing or official interest in Harang has been acknowledged by the club, expect the Phillies to be very busy in the coming week.
