Former Ohio State wide receiver Ray Small has been sentenced to four years in prison for drug trafficking.
Small was sentenced to three years on an unrelated drug possession charge last week, and the two periods of jail time will run concurrently.
The 27-year-old pleaded guilty to three counts of drug trafficking in Franklin County Common Pleas Court. Smith's apartment in North Linden, OH was raided by police last summer, and Officers found 407 oxycodone pills, 403 alprazolam pills (Xanax) and more than 20 grams of heroin after reports of drug trafficking led them to Small.
Police also found two unloaded weapons (a handgun and a military-style rifle) in the apartment, but weapons charges were dismissed as part of Small's plea agreement.
Small, a four-star recruit out of high school, caught 61 passes for 659 yards and three touchdowns in a four-year career with the Buckeyes. Smith was one of the Buckeyes players who admitted to selling memorabilia while active.
"They explain the rules to you, but as a kid you're not really listening to all of them rules," Small told Ohio State's student newspaper in 2011. "You go out and you just, people show you so much love, you don't even think about the rules."
