Severino nearly captures history in Mets loss

The Mets came into today with two straight series losses to the Giants and Cardinals. They had Luis Severino on the mound, coming off a loss against San Francisco where he gave up three runs in six innings. The Cubs were coming into town doing pretty well, sitting comfortably in second place in the Central and Jameson Taillon taking the mound for them. The Mets were hoping to continue the good vibes after the Mark Vientos walk-off home run the day before.

To start off the game, Severino had a quick first inning, setting down the side in order with two strikeouts.
