Knicks Free Agency Rumors Roundup For July 4th

Our nation's birthday brings with it the news that LaMarcus Aldridge is taking his talents to San Antonio, but there's plenty of other intrigue to be had -- ESPECIALLY surrounding the New York Knicks. Here's our Knicks Free Agency Rumors Roundup For July 4th.

David Lee Update

Per Marc Berman of the New York Post:

"Golden State has explored dealing ex-Knicks power forward David Lee, who wants to play in New York and has one year and $15.5 million left on his pact. According to a source, this scenario has been discussed among the parties."

The one wrinkle here is that the Warriors are adamant about not receiving any guaranteed salary commitments back in return for Lee, who was shuffled to the back of the team's rotation in 2014-15 in favor of breakout star Draymond Green.

Is A Linsanity Sequel In The Works?

Point guard Jeremy Lin had a lackluster 2014-15 campaign with the Los Angeles Lakers, but he remains a talented pick-and-roll offensive weapon who can fill it up when his confidence level is up.

That's enough to pique the Mavs' interest, who multiple source are reporting as interested in bringing him in to fill out their bench rotation. Another option? A reunion at MSG:

Lin averaged a career-high 14.6 points and 6.2 assists per game in 35 games for the Knicks in 2011-12 -- the breakout season that earned him the "Linsanity" tag in the Big Apple.

Did The Knicks Pass On Tobias Harris?

Before he re-signed with the Orlando Magic on Friday on a four-year, $64 million deal, 22-year-old forward Tobias Harris was rumored to be a top target for New York during this year's free agency period.

However, Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders reports that neither the Knicks nor the Los Angeles Lakers -- another big-market squad who reportedly had eyes for Harris -- reached out to his representation at any point in the past few days.

Harris averaged 17.1 points and 6.3 rebounds in 34.8 minutes per game for Orlando this past season. However, his inflated price tag on the current market may have been enough to scare Knicks president Phil Jackson off.
