BREAKING: Knicks Trade Carmelo Anthony To Thunder For Two Players, Draft Pick

The New York Knicks have traded Carmelo Anthony to the Oklahoma City Thunder for two players and a draft pick, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The pick is expected to be a second-round pick in the 2018 NBA Draft.

Anthony had previously been trying to force a trade to the Houston Rockets, telling New York they were the only team he would waive his no-trade clause for. However, New York did not like Houston's offer and told Anthony they were "unwilling to make a bad trade" involving him.

On Friday, Anthony agreed to waive the clause for a few more teams, one of which was the Thunder. He also expressed to the Knicks that he did not want to be with the team when training camp opens early next week.

Anthony had contemplated waiving that no-trade clause for a number of teams other than the Rockets, including Oklahoma City, earlier this offseason, but held firm on his desire to be in Houston until now.

Thunder stars Russell Westbrook and Paul George had been recruiting Anthony to OKC and ultimately played a major factor in Carmelo accepting the trade, according to Wojnarowski.

He will be with his new team when they open training camp on Tuesday.

Anthony, who waived his trade kicker in order to make the deal work, has two years and $54 million remaining on his deal, though he can opt out after the 2017-18 season. He averaged 22.4 points and 5.9 rebounds per game this past season.

Kanter figures to start for the Knicks next to Krisptaps Porzingis in the frontcourt. He has two years remaining on his contract, but the second year is a player option. Kanter averaged 14.3 points and 6.7 rebounds in 21.3 minutes per game last season.

McDermott is in the final year of his rookie deal and will provide a shooting boost off the bench for New York. He averaged 9.0 points and 2.7 rebounds in 22.8 minutes per game.
