Whilst many fans, experts and analysts have been slow to the draw this season, it has been a remarkable start to the campaign for the unfancied New Jersey Devils.
Having last lifted the Stanley Cup back in 2003, it has been a tough couple of decades for all associated with the Devils, but they are in the midst of a 12-game winning streak and are sitting pretty at the top of the Metropolitan Division.
Getting out of the said Metropolitan Division has proved to be problematic for New Jersey, with the Devils having not featured in the playoffs since the 2017/18 season.
However, there is a genuine sense of optimism surrounding the New Jersey Devils in the 2022/23 season and how they would love to prove their doubters wrong.
Under the stewardship of Lindy Ruff, the Devils look to play with a previously unseen freedom, which can often catch them out but their recent 5-1 win over the Ottawa Senators was perhaps representative of their new found fluency.
In terms of playing personnel, Jack Hughes continues to be the talisman, with the likes of Nico Hischier and Ondrej Palat providing attacking flair, making the New Jersey Devils one of the most attractive sides to watch this season in the NHL.
How far they can go remains to be seen, especially in light of their relatively poor seasons in recent years but in the NHL, anything can happen.
At +500 to win the NHL Metropolitan Division, clearly the New Jersey Devils aren’t as well fancied as plenty of other sides in the league, but they have opened up a decent points gap at the top of the table.
Beyond that, the Devils should find themselves in the end-of -season playoffs and a first Stanley Cup in 20 years will become top of the priority list for all Devils players and fans.
Coming in at +1500, the odds of the New Jersey Devils winning the Stanley Cup this season are better than they have been for a long time at the Prudential Center and things are certainly trending in the right direction.
Colorado Avalanche are currently the favorites to lift the Stanley Cup in 2022/23, with some excellent off-season acquisitions being backed up with some impressive early season form.

Elsewhere, the Toronto Maple Leafs will be looking to be in the mix again when it comes to playoff season.
Coming in at +800 to lift the Stanley Cup, the Maple Leafs are always a team to keep an eye on.
Meanwhile, the Florida Panthers and Calgary Flames have both impressed so far this season and they can be backed for NHL Stanley Cup glory at +900 and +1000 respectively.
