Will 2022 Be The Year The New York Yankees Break Their World Series Hiatus?

Few sporting institutions across the world are as infamous as the New York Yankees and their standing and appeal within Major League Baseball remains as pertinent as ever.

One often omitted detail however with the Yankees, is the fact that the side from New York have not managed to win the MLB World Series title since 2009.

For most sports teams, a 13 year break from winning trophies certainly wouldn’t be ideal but on the same token, it is unlikely to be a genuine cause for concern.

However, when it comes to the New York Yankees – a team that has won the MLB World Series title on an incredible 27 occasions, failing to win the trophy over the past 13 years has caused outrage and incredulity amongst their fans.

There has been fresh cause for optimism this year at Yankee Stadium though, as with the end of season play offs looming, the Yankees sit top of the American League East Division – having won 72 games this season.

Central to their league position has been their excellent home form, with 41 of 57 games won at Yankee Stadium and the fortress of old looks to be back in the Bronx.

According to betting aggregator Offers Bet, it is time to kick on for the Yankees however and with only two wins from their last 10 games, suggestions are being made that the all too familiar Yankee Stadium wobble is kicking in once more.

Whilst the New York Yankees look to be well placed to end their 13 years of pain, there are a whole host of sides in the mix to lift the MLB title at the end of the season.

The Houston Astros have been a real force to be reckoned with throughout the campaign so far and they are very much the team to beat in the American League West, with the big question being whether they can sustain that form through the playoffs too.

Across New York, the Mets are also a side in fine fettle, sitting pretty at the top of the National League East conference and how they would love to pip their great rivals to the MLB title this season.

Over in the Western Conference, both the LA Dodgers and the San Diego Padres have been the pace setters this term and they too look well places to make a serious assault on the play offs.

With a whole host of sides in the mix, it promises to be a fascinating end to what has been one of the most enthralling MLB seasons in recent years and it remains to be seen if 2022 will be the year the New York Yankees break their World Series hiatus.
