BREAKING: Top 100 2019 Recruit Stephen Herron Jr. Flips To Stanford From Michigan

The Michigan Wolverines have officially lost one of their top recruits for the class of 2019. 4-star DE Stephen Herron Jr. has flipped from Michigan to the Stanford Cardinal. James Yoder from Chat Sports breaks down what this means to Michigan Football in the video above and below.

Herron announced his decision today on Twitter. Herron thanked Michigan coaches and fans in his announcement.

I confirmed the rumor that Herron would flip to Stanford and that it was imminent any day on the Michigan Football Report with James Yoder on Saturday morning.

Herron is the #5 WDE in the class of 2019 and the #86 overall recruit. He's the top player in the state of Kentucky.

The loss of Herron puts Michigan at #9 in the nation in the 2019 recruiting class race. They are #2 in the Big Ten, behind Ohio State. The Wolverines have 18 players committed, led by 5-star DE Chris Hinton.

Stanford checks in at #44, not that the Cardinal typically rank that highly thanks to academic constraints. Stanford has just 8 recruits, but 5 of them are 4-stars. Herron is Stanford's 2nd highest-rated recruit, behind RB Austin Jones.

This is a developing story. Refresh for updates.
