Michigan's Backup QB - Projected To Go Undrafted - Claims He's The Most NFL Ready QB In This Class

Michigan Wolverines backup quarterback John O'Korn didn't begin or finish the season as the team's starting quarterback and isn't projected to be selected in the 2018 NFL Draft, but don't tell that to John O'Korn.

The 6-foot-4, 211-pounder said at Michigan's Pro Day today that he thinks he's the most NFL ready quarterback in this draft class.

“I think I’m the most NFL ready quarterback in this draft, just as far as terminology and knowing what to do on a day-to-day basis, [and] game planning,” O’Korn said. “I was part of the game planning meetings with Coach Harbaugh and Coach Hamilton and the whole staff all last fall.

“I’d choose myself over any other guy in this draft in that regard.”

O’Korn played in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl in January, finishing 6/13 passing for 94 yards and an interception, and is hoping that he can make an impression on a team that will either draft him or invite him to camp.

“I’m just trying to make one team like me,” O’Korn said. “At the end of the day, whether it’s 32 teams or one team that likes you, you can only go to one camp. The goal is to make an NFL roster, that’s the goal from here on out.”

He started the season as the backup to Wilton Speight but took over when Speight suffered an injury against Purdue. O'Korn then started the next three games - Michigan went 1-2 during that stretch - before being replaced by Brandon Peters. However, he started the regular-season finale against Ohio State after Peters suffered a concussion.

O'Korn, a Houston transfer, completed 53.5 percent of his passes for 973 yards, two touchdowns, and six interceptions in nine appearances this season, including the four starts.
