The Los Angeles Dodgers' Josh Beckett was simply untouchable on Sunday afternoon, completely baffling the Philadelphia Phillies en route to the first no-hitter of his 14-year MLB career and the first no hitter in the Major Leagues this season.
Beckett gave up just three walks in the Dodgers' 6-0 victory while striking out six. The Phillies couldn't put decent wood on the ball for the majority of the afternoon, with long fly outs a complete rarity for a punchless Phillies offense.
Beckett's no-hitter marks the first no-hitter by a Dodgers pitcher since Hideo Nomo blanked the Colorado Rockies 9-0 on September 17, 1996.
This was the first time the Phillies have been no-hit since 1978.
