The 2021 NFL Draft is over, but the Kansas City Chiefs didn’t stop adding players after 7 rounds of this year’s draft. The Chiefs signed numerous undrafted free agents this year, hoping a couple of them could end up being the next great UDFA in the NFL. While that’s a longshot, several UDFAs have been solid contributors in the past including current Chiefs’ starting CB Charvarius Ward, Tershawn Wharton and Ben Niemann. With that in mind, here’s a breakdown of all the Chiefs’ UDFAs for 2021 per the latest Chiefs news reports.
Chiefs UDFA Signings are headlined by SMU QB Shane Buechele. Buechele had a 5-year college career that started at Texas in 2016 before transferring to SMU for the 2019-20 seasons. Buechele could challenge Chad Henne, Jordan Ta’Amu and Anthony Gordan for the backup QB spot behind Patrick Mahomes. Buechele is 1 of 7 UDFA additions by Kansas City. The others are Dicaprio Bootle, Marlon Character, Zayne Anderson, Riley Cole, Malik Herring and Devon Key.
