The Zags sealed the victory early on with sophomore Alex Bourguignon’s 6-4 6-4 victory to make it 4-1.
“We talked to our girls after losing the doubles point,” coach D.J. Gurule said. “We didn’t want to win, we wanted to compete. We didn’t want to think ‘oh we have to win.’ We just knew if we competed and stuck to our game and our style that we would come out on top.”
Freshman Domonique Garley lost a tough doubles set but was able to regroup in singles.
“We don’t really take the doubles too hard,” said Garley.
