WBB: Zags defeat Portland for third consecutive win

“Today it was a nice balanced attack,” said head coach Lisa Fortier. “We played great defense and did a really good job on the offensive end too.”

Jill Barta, who entered the game averaging 18.4 points per game over the last five outings, led the Zags with 27 points. She was just one point behind matching her career-high of 28 points against Santa Clara earlier this season.

Barta was outscoring the entire Portland team 23 to 20 with 7:09 left in the third.

“Jill [Barta] always performs great,” said teammate Zhane Templeton. “She works hard, she gets to the open spots and she knocks down shots when we need her.
