After back-to-back losses down south at the Staples Center to the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers, Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said that the team was in full-on "crisis" mode heading into Saturday's home tilt with the lowly Minnesota Timberwolves.
"The way we played (Thursday) night is cause for concern and crisis," Kerr said of the team's uninspiring 100-86 loss to the Clippers, via Jimmy Durkin of the Bay Area News Group, "but the other thing we talk about a little bit is, 'Here we are, angry about last night, not happy about the way we've played, and we're 23-5 with the best record in the league.' So that means a lot."
The Warriors righted the ship for at least one night in Saturday's 113-97 win over Minnesota, improving to an NBA-best 24-5 record. Still, Kerr remains in teaching mode despite the team's overall success so far in 2014-15.
"I want our guys to understand that we're good enough now to play with anybody," Kerr said. "Our record shows that. Let's get rid of those bad habits now and not have to sit here in May and wonder, 'Gosh, if I hadn't just made seven careless plays. ...' "
The Warriors will have another home game against one of the league's worst teams record-wise on Tuesday, when they host the Philadelphia 76ers.
