Trending Warriors News: GM Bob Myers says big trade "unlikely"

In today's Warriors news update, those looking for the Golden State Warriors to pull the trigger on a blockbuster deal for Minnesota Timberwolves star Kevin Love may be left wanting.

According to Diamond Leung of the Bay Area News Group, Warriors general manager Bob Myers is indicating that the chances of any big trade at the current moment are pretty small.

“I think probably right now unlikely. It’s the best I can do for you. But I will say this: If you asked me last year at this time would we be in a situation to grab an (Andre) Iguodala, I would have said the same thing," Myers stated, via Leung's article on Friday.

“Right now, I think it’s unlikely. Right now, today.”

Part of the hold-up in a potential trade for Love is most liklye Minnesota's reported insistence that Klay Thompson be included in the deal.

Myers knows just how valuable Thompson is and would like to keep him in a Warriors uniform for as long as he can.

“The nice thing about him that I think is he hasn’t reached his ceiling,” Myers stated. “I think he’s got a high ceiling and that he can only get better, so that’s the type of player anybody wants on their team.”

Thompson can sign an extension with the team as soon as next month - a possibility which Myers is looking forward to meeting head-on.

I will tell you that there’s a lot of players on our roster that have value, which is good,” Myers stated. “That’s what you want to have.

“Especially the youth of the roster is appealing to any team in the NBA. You want to have young, good players, and we have a few, and that’s something we don’t take for granted.”
