QuickCap Game #2: Jackets Fall to Canes, 3-1, For First Loss

The Columbus Blue Jackets collected their first loss of the year in a 3-1 defeat to the Carolina Hurricanes.

First Period

Carolina scored the game’s first goal off a neutral zone turnover when Andrei Svechnikov poked the puck off the stick of Artemi Panarin, feeding it to Jordan Martinook for a glove-side upper-90 goal on the first shot of the game.

Columbus answered later in the period on a Brandon Dubisnky putback through the five hole of old friend Curtis McElhinney off an errant shot from David Savard.
