The Cleveland Monsters started off to a rocky start with three straight failed power plays in the first period before Calvin Thurkauf would take a penalty later in the first which would allow the IceHogs to score on the delayed penalty.
Eric Robinson would tie it up for the Monsters 1:58 into the second period with the first goal of his professional career. Shortly after, the Cleveland fans would be treated to the first fight of the season between Zac Dalpe of the Monsters, who would also get a two minute minor penalty for roughing, and Nathan Noel of the IceHogs.
