Cavs Guard Iman Shumpert To Miss At Least Three Months With Wrist Injury

The Cleveland Cavaliers announced that guard Iman Shumpert will undergo surgery on his right wrist to repair a ruptured extensor carpi ulnaris sheath he suffered before training camp and will be out for at least three months.

"He worked incredibly hard this offseason and put in a lot, a lot of work," Cavs GM David Griffin said, via ESPN. "And in training last week, he had an issue where he hit the rim with his right wrist. I believe he was trying to catch a lob [pass]. He's a really tough guy, so he probably didn't realize it was severe at the time."

The Cavaliers re-signed Shumpert to a four-year, $40 million contract this offseason. He averaged 7.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.3 steals per game in 38 appearances with the Cavs in 2015 after being acquired in a trade with the New York Knicks.
