With the Cleveland Cavs beginning preparations for the long offseason ahead, legendary head coach and current ESPN analyst George Karl is throwing his name in the hat when it comes to being of some major help.
According to Mary Schmitt Boyer of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer, "George Karl has never met Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert, but if Gilbert is looking for a prominent NBA veteran with ties to Cleveland to head up his franchise as president, Karl would love to be on the short list."
With former fellow head coaches Phil Jackson and Flip Saunders taking roles as presidents of the New York Knicks and Minnesota Timberwolves respectively, Karl is embracing the thought of a potential presidency job with the Cleveland Cavs -- a team currently without a president --
"Being a leader, running a team and organizing a group with the common goal of winning a championship would be the ultimate challenge in my career,'' Karl stated in an email from Germany transcribed by Boyer.
Dan Gilbert has not stated whether or not he is looking to create a president of basketball operations role with the Cleveland Cavs, and is currently still evaluating options when it comes to current general manager David Griffin and head coach Mike Brown.
That won't stop George Karl from being interested in the currently-imaginary job, nor will it stop the rumors that will come along with it.
