Veteran quarterback Brian Hoyer has signed a one-year deal with the Chicago Bears, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The deal was reported almost immediately after the conclusion of the 2016 NFL Draft. Hoyer will likely begin the season as the backup to starting QB Jay Cutler.
Hoyer had been in talks with both the Jets and Broncos in recent weeks, but both teams took quarterbacks in the draft, with Christian Hackenberg going to New York in the second round and Paxton Lynch to Denver in the first. The Bears, meanwhile, focused their picks on other needs.
Hoyer had been on the market since being released by the Texans on April 17. The journeyman signal-caller helped guide Houston into the playoffs last season, but struggled mightily in the AFC Wild Card game, throwing for just 136 with four interceptions in a 30-0 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
In 11 regular-season games last year, Hoyer threw for 2,606 yards with 19 touchdowns and seven interceptions. The Bears will be the fifth team he plays for in his eight-year NFL career.
