In an attempt to start shedding money before the 2018 NBA Draft, the Charlotte Hornets have shipped All-Star C Dwight Howard to the Brooklyn Nets for C Timofey Mozgov, a 2018 2nd round pick (#45 overall), a 2021 2nd round pick and cash, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
The Hornets will save $8 million this year with the trade, but by taking on Mozgov's contract, are on the books for his $17 million in the 2019-2020 season.

It was widely expected for the Hornets to start shedding some money after missing the playoffs last season. Howard had the highest cap hit on the team and is owed $23.5 million this season.
This is Howard's 3rd team in 3 years, going from the Atlanta Hawks to Charlotte and now to Brooklyn.
All eyes now turn towards draft night where the Hornets could be looking to trade away All-Star PG Kemba Walker for a top 10 pick.
For the Brooklyn Nets, this trade allows them to open up two max salary spots next season, similar to the Los Angeles Lakers this offseason.
While they are coming off another terrible season, maybe we finally see the Brooklyn Nets begin to crawl out of the hole they've been in for the past 4 seasons.
