CLEVELAND — Bryce Meredith's first two matches of the NCAA Championships were almost businesslike. The first was defensive, the second drew blood, but they both featured "smart" approaches from Meredith, as the Wyoming senior put it.
"I wish I could just go out there and wrestle my type of style every single match," the top-ranked Meredith said Thursday, "but these kids are good, and it’s the NCAA Tournament, so they’re really tight with their position, and they want to try to keep it as close as they possibly can. With that, you’ve just got to stay composed.
