New Faces Shine in First Spring Scrimmage

PULLMAN, Wash. (April 6, 2024) – Washington State Football held its first scrimmage of spring practice Saturday afternoon at Gesa Field.

The Cougars saw both sides of the ball produce big plays as the offense rushed for three scores and threw for another while the defense tallied four sacks and picked off three passes.

Quarterback John Mateer led the way unofficially going 16-of-21 for 194 yards including a 27-yard touchdown pass while Zevi Eckhaus unofficially went 10-of-20 for 121 yards. Freshman running back Wayshawn Parker led the ground attack with 10 carries for 30 yards and a touchdown while redshirt-freshman running back Leo Pulalasi added seven carries for 25 yards.
