The Toronto Blue Jays are well underway with their spring training schedule as they prepare for their opening MLB game against the Detroit Tigers at Rogers Centre on March 28.
The Blue Jays finished their 2018 campaign with a 73-89 record, and consequently, the bookmakers make them at +9000 in the 2019 World Series betting. The Boston Red Sox, Houston Astros and New York Yankees all top the outright betting as co-favorites at +650 heading into the new campaign, as they are the three fancied teams to win the championship. The Red Sox are bidding to become the first back-to-back winners since the Yankees managed that feat in 2000.
A rebuilding process is currently underway in Toronto which is likely to see the Blue Jays feature more younger players in 2019 as they think towards the future. As a result, they may be a good bet to be in the mix for their division in a couple of years' time.
The biggest prospect in Toronto’s ranks is Vlad Guerrero Jr, but he has recently picked up a back injury that looks set to keep him out of action for up to two months. Despite the loss of Guerrero Jr, the Blue Jays should be backed to win their opening series against the Tigers, who are one of the worst ranked team going into the new campaign at +25000 with the majority of bookmakers.

Billy McKinney is predicted to be the Blue Jays’ leadoff hitter on the opening day against the Tigers. The 24-year-old arrived in Toronto midway through last season after being traded from the Yankees. He made 36 appearances for the Blue Jays in 2018, hitting .252 with six home runs and 13 RBIs. If you are looking for a Blue Jays player to hit the most runs in 2019, he will give you a run for your money.
The goal for now for the Blue Jays will be to finish the year with a winning record, however, if Toronto do get off to a winning start, they will have the post-season in their target for the third time in three years.
