We're less than three weeks away from the 2015 MLB trade deadline, which means there are plenty of rumors swirling around the Toronto Blue Jays and what they might do on the trade market. Here are three trades they could make at the deadline:
Trade catcher Max Pentecost, another prospect, draft picks to White Sox for Jeff Samardzija
Samardzija is not a true No. 1 arm, but he is one of the better pitchers on the market and has a proven track record of being successful in both the AL and NL. His numbers have been hurt my Chicago's awful offense, but the White Sox seem determined to get rid of him, making him a great deal for numerous contenders.
Toronto is in win-now mode more than any other team given the age of their starting lineup, and this move would give them another high-quality starter they need while keeping on to their elite prospects.
Trade LHP Daniel Norris, OF Dalton Pompey to Reds for Johnny Cueto
Norris and Pompey are Toronto's best prospects, and while they really don't want to give them up, the opportunity to bring in a pitcher liek Cueto could be enough to get them to pull the trigger. This would indicate the Blue Jays going all-in on winning now, but they likely wouldn't make the deal with an assurance from Cueto that he'd re-sign with the team after the season.
Trade prospects to Braves for closer Jason Grilli
Toronto has expressed interest in Atlanta's Jason Grilli, and the Braves are serious about dealing their closer if they can get promising prospects in return for him.
