Why Is O.J. Simpson In Jail Right Now? It's Not Because Of Murder...

UPDATE:

O.J. Simpson has been granted parole, which means he'll be out of jail as soon as October.

Original Story below:

You will be hearing about the possibility of O.J. Simpson getting out of jail in the coming months, but he may not be in jail for the reason you think.

Simpson is not in jail for the murders of Nicole Brown-Simpson and Ron Goldman (a jury found him not guilty of those charges), but for several charges stemming from - and including - an armed robbery.

Simpson is serving a nine-to-33-year sentence after attempting to get back pieces of his college and NBA memorabilia. Simpson and some associates were tried and convicted of kidnapping, armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.

Simpson had claimed he was just trying to get back personal items that had been stolen from him. He said he didn't know the people he brought with them were armed.

He has parole hearing set for July 20th, 2017 with the Nevada board of parole. If Simpson is granted parole, he will be released as early as October 2017.  Simpson was previously up for parole in 2013 and 2014 and was parole on some, but not all, of the charges.
