Key Dates For The NBA season 2023-24

The National Basketball Association (NBA) is widely considered to be the best basketball league in the world today due to its sheer amount of star power, historical significance and worldwide audience that it continues to garner.

The league has continued to generate an impeccable level of investment from various sports fans from all across the world who have expressed their desired interests in rooting for one of the many teams that are present in the league standings, as well as finding a great amount of enjoyment in catching one of the many eagerly anticipated contests that are frequently featured on a nightly basis.

NBA Matches
The most important date in the entire NBA calendar is arguably the opening day of the regular season fixtures which took place on October 24th.

The NBA opening day saw two major live games, reigning world champions Denver Nuggets’ championship versus the 17-time champions LA Lakers, as two other Western Conference juggernauts squared that same evening, the Golden State Warriors and Phoenix Suns. Nuggets and the Suns took home the wins on those game days, but in the last couple of weeks we have seen many more matches.

NBA In-Season Tournament:
This is one of this season’s most vastly discussed events as it will be the first time in league history that the NBA will be launching a new tournament that takes place during the regular season.

The official starting date for this newly fabricated tournament was November 3rd and it features all NBA teams competing against other opponents that will be sorted into individual divisions, with one game featuring the Atlanta Hawks and Orlando Magic being played abroad in Mexico City, Mexico.

The semifinals and finals begin on the 7th and 9th of December respectively in Las Vegas, Nevada with this new tournament being perhaps the most eagerly talked about addition to the NBA in several years with fans already expressing their desires to catch some of the many games that will be broadcasted across the globe.

NBA All-Star Weekend:
The much merited and vibrant All-Star weekend has remained a popular pillar of the NBA calendar for decades as it allows the league’s top performers to compete against each other in a number of challenges and a friendly exhibition game.

The All-Star weekend includes many outings such as the rising stars and celebrity games, three-point contest, dunk contest, skills challenge and the aforementioned All-Star game where fans can vote for their favorite players who have earned nominations to compete in the deciding game.

All-Star weekend 2024 gets underway on February 16th and concludes on the 18th, with this year’s selected venue being the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana which of course is the home arena of the NBA franchise Indiana Pacers.

NBA Playoffs:
After the 82 game regular season, the top ranked teams from both conferences will then square off against each other in the NBA’s playoff bracket to decide who advances to the latter stages of the postseason.

These games are set to begin on April 20th, with the play-in tournament beginning a few days earlier to determine which teams can earn a spot in the playoffs representing the seventh and eighth seeds.

As each team advances through every potential seven game series, the final two teams representing each conference will then face each other in the pivotal Conference Finals matchups that are likely to begin on May 21st and 22nd.

The NBA Finals:
The conclusion of the 2023/24 season features the final two remaining teams who claimed victory in the conference championship games, being featured in the NBA Finals which continues over the course of the next few days.

Game one beings on June 6th with game two following later on the 9th and games three and four on the 12th and 14th.

Should the series go any further beyond the fourth outing, there are other set days which will broadcast the finals and decide which team will gain the opportunity to lift the coveted Larry O’Brien championship trophy and call themselves NBA World Champions.
