49ers Rumors: 49ers deciding between three QBs to draft?

In 49ers rumors tonight, the San Francisco 49ers may be looking at three potential draft targets at quarterback in the 2014 NFL Draft -- in order to ensure depth at the position for years to come.

According to Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com,  "After David Fales (San Jose State) attended the 49ers’ local pro day on April 25, Harbaugh revealed Fales was on his personal list of top-five quarterbacks in this draft."

"If big-armed Zack Mettenberger (LSU) is around on the third day of the draft, he is a legitimate option for the 49ers as he rehabs from ACL surgery he underwent on January 2," Maiocco continues. "Logan Thomas (Virginia Tech) had the best fastball of any QB prospect at the combine since they started using a radar gun to measure the velocity of passes. Thomas’ reported 60 mph unseated Kaepernick (59 mph) for the unofficial honor. Thomas has the kind of arm talent with which Harbaugh would love to work."

Maiocco does add that Jim Harbaugh is "exceptionally savvy," so it may be wise to take his position on Fales with a grain of salt. However, don't be surprised if one of these three signal-callers starts the grooming process on the bench for the 49ers in 2014.
