Quarterback Trace McSorley, safety Nick Scott and punter Blake Gillkin have been selected by their teammates to lead the football team as captains for the 2018 season. This is the second consecutive year that McSorley and Scott have been named captains, with Scott effectively taking over as captain of the defense following the departure of Jason Cabinda.
The record-breaking McSorley will enter as his third year as starting quarterback. His leadership abilities have been well-documented since he joined the program. Scott is expected to take over the starting spot at free safety from Marcus Allen, who is preparing for the NFL Draft later this month.
