TMZ Sports broke the story yesterday that Denver Broncos wide receiver Wes Welker was overpaid around $15,000 by Churchill Downs during the Kentucky Derby on May 3rd -- after hitting big on multiple bets during the festivities.
Welker told Dan Patrick that the racetrack needs to "get in line," and that the machine malfunction had nothing to do with him.
Speaking with TMZ Sports last night, Welker's former teammate and current Tennessee Titan Shaun Phillips has sounded off -- giving Welker some ethical advice on his situation -- "You gotta give it back. Don't play with the law. I would give it back."
