The Latest Yankees Rumors On Cutting Alex Rodriguez, Calling Up Aaron Judge And Trading Brian McCann

With the MLB Trade Deadline over, the New York Yankees have turned their attention to the rest of the season. While the Hot Stove has cooled off substantially, there are still a few rumors and news tidbits around the club. Check out all the latest Yankees rumors and news below.

Time To Part Ways With A-Rod?
The Yankees much-needed rebuild is finally here. The club dealt Andrew Miller, Ivan Nova and Carlos Beltran on or just before the deadline day, starting a rebuild that the club needed. The Yankees are now flush with prospects, but still have some dead weight on the 25-man roster. That's why ESPN's Buster Olney argues it's time for the Yankees to cut Alex Rodriguez. He's owed about $28 million for the rest of this year and next season, but is hitting a woeful .209 with just nine homers. There are some conflicting reports over whether the Yankees are considering it at the moment.

Are Yankees Considering Cutting Him?
The first report comes from Peter Botte of the New York Daily News, who reports the Yankees could dump Rodriguez before the end of the season.

While the more likely scenario still seems to be parting ways with A-Rod over the winter, a source familiar with the situation told the Daily News on Monday that there’s a chance releasing the slumping DH “could happen” before the end of this season as part of the team’s ongoing overhaul.

However, that doesn't exactly line up with a report from George King of the New York Post.

According to several people with knowledge of the situation, the Yankees haven’t discussed internally releasing the 41-year-old Rodriguez and the topic hasn’t reached Hal Steinbrenner’s inbox. Nor has anyone approached Rodriguez, who is owed roughly $28 million for the rest of this year and next, on the subject.

For the time being, there's a chance Rodriguez could take over as the full-time DH with Carlos Beltran now in Texas. While eating $28 million in salary is not ideal of any club, even the Yankees, it might best for their long-term future to plug in a younger option.

Aaron Judge Getting Called Up Soon?
With Beltran gone, the Yankees are missing their best power hitter. That's led to speculation that OF Aaron Judge, one of the team's top prospects will be getting the call to the majors. NJ.com expects Judge to get promoted in two weeks or less. It might have been sooner if Judge wasn't set to come off the disabled list Tuesday with an injured knee. Judge had been tearing up Triple-A with 16 homers and a .825 OPS in 83 games. Assuming he shakes the rust off, Judge could be getting promoted very soon.

Brian McCann Waiver Trade?
Yes, the MLB Trade Deadline has passed, but there's still the waiver deadline on August 31st. The Yankees could try to make another deal or two, and ESPN's Buster Olney reports Brian McCann is one of the top options to be dealt during the waiver trade period. With McCann set to make $17 million each of the next two seasons, he should pass through waivers. If the Yankees eat a good chunk of his salary, a trade with the Braves makes sense according to Olney. That will allow McCann to head home to the Braves, giving them a veteran catcher. It would also allow the Yankees to give more playing time to Gary Sanchez.
