Report: Jacoby Brissett Has Torn Thumb Ligament, Likely To Have Surgery

The New England Patriots were down to the last quarterback on their roster due to injury and suspension, and now, they have another injury at the position to deal with. According to Mike Petraglia of WEEI, Jacoby Brissett suffered a torn thumb ligament in the second quarter of their win over the Texans and could need surgery:

Starter Tom Brady is suspended for another game for his role in the Deflategate scandal, and backup Jimmy Garoppolo - who started the first two games of the season - has a shoulder injury that is expected to keep him out for another 1-3 weeks.

Wide receiver Julian Edelman served as the team's backup quarterback behind Brissett on Thursday, and if Brissett is unable to play, Edelman will start unless they sign a free agent. Brady will be back and starting for the Patriots in Week 5 when they take on the Cleveland Browns. They will face the Buffalo Bills at home next Sunday.

Brissett passed for 103 yards and ran for 48 yards with a touchdown against the Texans.
