Report: Athletics Trading OF Coco Crisp To Indians

The Oakland Athletics are sending OF Coco Crisp to the Cleveland Indians. The deal comes before the waiver trade deadline ends on Wednesday for the MLB.

It's unknown what the Athletics are getting back in the trade, but it's likely not much. Crisp waived his trade clause to help a deal go through.

Crisp had recently complained about his playing time, believing the A's were trying to ensure he didn't get enough at-bats or games played to trigger the $13 vesting option in his contract.

Crisp is 36 years old with a .234/.299/.399 slash line. He started his MLB career with the Indians, so this is a bit of a homecoming for him. He'll compete for playing time with several others in an outfield still trying to effectively replace the hurt Michael Brantley.

The Indians are in the midst of a postseason push. They are 74-56, with a 4.5 game lead in the AL Central.
