Astros Take Down Dodgers 5-3 To Lead Series 2-1

The Houston Astros are one step closer to becoming World Series Champions for the first time in franchise history. The Astros took down the Dodgers 5-3 in Game 3 Friday night.

The fun began in the bottom of the 2nd, Yu Darvish could not throw where he wanted which led struggling Astro batters to a great inning with four runs. Only six outs in, Dave Roberts pulled his starter out of the game with the Dodgers down 4-0.

In the top of the 3rd, the Dodgers finally get a run on the board after bases were loaded, a double play on a grounder by Corey Seager got the run. In the 5th, the Astros took advantage of some sloppy defense after Evan Gattis singled, and a low throw to first baseman Cody Bellinger gets past him into foul territory, Josh Reddick was able to score.

The Dodgers came alive in the top of the 6th, Lance McCullers was in trouble with bases loaded and Brad Peacock got a groundout from Yasiel Puig which sent Corey Seager home. McCullers threw a wildly low pitch to get behind the catcher which allowed Justin Turner to slide in home, Dodgers trailing 5-3.

Lance McCullers had a decent start for the Astros, he allowed 3 runs in 5 1/3 innings, but it was Brad Peacock who came in the game with one out in the 6th crushing the Dodgers hopes at a comeback. The Astros now lead the series 2-1 over the Dodgers and will enter Game 4 Saturday night where Charlie Morton will face off against Dodgers Alex Wood.
