While RS junior and 2017 starter Deondre Francois may seem like the obvious choice for new head coach Willie Taggart to make, off-the-field issues and looming arrests for Francois have given sophomore James Blackman an opportunity to become the starter in 2018.
While the real competition should heat up come August when Francois (knee) is healthy enough to practice at full speed, Blackman is in a good position to win starting role if Francois can’t get his off the field issues straightened out.
