Pistons News: Cartier Martin Medically Cleared To Return, Timetable?

Detroit Pistons head coach Stan Van Gundy knows how valuable Cartier Martin's shooting can be for his team, but he's not willing to force Martin to play through pain to get his touch back on the court.

Martin said, via David Mayo of MLive.com, that the plantar fascittis in his right foot feels "like a needle sticking in the bottom of your foot."

Van Gundy told the assembled press that Martin is cleared to go, but doesn't have a timetable for a return.

"Cartier, look, I have no idea," Van Gundy said before Monday's game against the Chicago Bulls. "He's been cleared medically for a couple of weeks, so whenever he can handle the pain, he'll be back playing, and I don't know when or if that's going to happen."

Martin's injury came to the surface on October 28th, the day before the team's season opener. He hasn't played or practiced at full speed since that day.

"I'm trying to get back as fast as possible," Martin said. "I'm telling you, I'm not the type of guy who wants to sit out for anything. If I can play though something, I'm definitely going to try to get out there and play through whatever it is."
