The Dallas Cowboys picked up a much-needed win over the Miami Dolphins, taking the contest 24-14. The Dolphins had nothing going on offense and fell to 4-6 on the season. The Cowboys were buoyed by Tony Romo's return and are now 3-7. Here's what you need to know from the Cowboys' win.
Notes:
Romo showed flashes of brilliance and rust in his return, which is fair given that he hadn't played in two months. He completed 18 of 28 passes for 227 yards, two TDs and two picks.
Darren McFadden led the way on the ground for Dallas, racking up 129 yards on 29 carries. The newly-signed Robert Turbin was the top backup, picking up 35 yards on seven carries.
Tannehill was outplayed by Romo. Tannehill completed just 13 of 24 passes for 188 yards, two TDs and a pick. He added 13 yards on the ground, but wasn't good enough to beat the Cowboys.
The Dolphins apparently forgot about Lamar Miller, as he only had seven carries. He turned those into 44 yards. The Dolphins ran the ball just 11 times, excluding Tannehill scrambles.

Observations:
This week went about as well it could have for the Cowboys. They beat the Dolphins and avoided losing more players to injury. The Eagles and the Redskins also lost, giving the Cowboys hope for a playoff berth. The Cowboys are two games back of the New York Giants and one back of second place.
The Dolphins ran into the same problem they've had much of the season: a lack of a ground game. The Dolphins aren't even trying to run the ball. Miller should have twice as many carries, at the very least, than the seven he got today. The Cowboys dominated time of possession, with 17 more minutes. That kept the Dolphins offense off the field, and the Dolphins' refusal to run the ball only made things worse.
