Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott was able to play in Sunday's blowout win over the San Francisco 49ers thanks to being granted a temporary restraining order, and another court ruling will keep him on the field this coming weekend when Dallas takes on the Washington Redskins.
A federal judge denied the NFL's request for the preliminary injunction hearing in the case to be moved up, ensuring that Elliott will remain eligible on Sunday.
U.S. District Court Judge Katherine P. Failla confirmed that the hearing is set for Oct. 30 at 5 p.m. ET. The NFL was hoping to get the hearing moved up to this Friday, Oct. 27.
If the judge does not grant a preliminary injunction to the NFLPA, Elliott will be suspended again. If the injunction is granted, Elliott will continue to be able to play while the NFL would likely continue to appeal the decision.

Two weeks ago, the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals panel in New Orleans court granted the NFL's emergency request to dismiss the injunction that Elliott had previously been playing under and ordered the federal judge in Texas who issued it to dismiss Elliott's case. However, that judge said he would not lift the injunction.
The ensuing hearing granted Elliott the temporary restraining order against the 5th Circuit Court's decision.

If Elliott does get suspended, Dallas has a plan for using both backups Alfred Morris and Darren McFadden in the backfield.
Elliott has rushed for 540 yards and four touchdowns on 131 carries so far this season while also catching 18 passes for 206 yards and two more scores.
