Cowboys News: Case Against Ezekiel Elliott Likely To Be Suspended By Dallas Police

Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott was involved in an altercation at a Dallas bar on Sunday night in which he allegedly punched a man in the nose, and Dallas Police were investigating the incident to see if any charges needed to be filed against Elliott.

However, the case is expected to be suspended due to a lack of cooperation from the victim, according to WFAA-TV's Rebecca Lopez.

Here is the official statement from the Dallas Police Department on the matter, via NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

This incident is just the latest in a long line of off-field troubles Elliott has found himself in during his short NFL career. Along with the league's ongoing domestic violence investigation into accusations of him beating a woman in July 2016, he visited a legal marijuana dispensary before a preseason game last year and was caught pulling down a woman’s top at a St. Patrick's Day Parade (consensually, apparently).

While nothing has resulted in any type of discipline yet, the league is looking at the "accumulative nature" of these incidents.

As for the Cowboys, they have continued to offer support for Elliott.

"I don't want to make any comment on the situation. We're still gathering information on what that situation was," head coach Jason Garrett said Wednesday. "Zeke's someone we believe very strongly in as a person and as a football player. We will continue to believe in him and try to put a structure around him and all of our players to help them make great decisions and grow."

Team owner Jerry Jones issued a similar statement on Tuesday.

"As you well know, because of his style and personality, it's like a rock star wherever he goes in terms of attention," Jones told the team's official website. "Anybody that's experienced that knows that takes getting used to. You have to learn many aspects of that. Certainly, Zeke is evolving and being subject to needing to learn how to deal with the media and social media the way it is today."

Elliott led the NFL in rushing as a rookie last season, picking up 1,631 yards and 15 touchdowns on 322 carries.
