Throwback Thursday: 30 Years Ago, Two Teams Passed on Michael Jordan

Many people don't remember that Michael Jordan, arguably the greatest basketball player ever to play the game, was passed up in the 1984 NBA Draft by two teams before being selected by Chicago.

Houston went first, taking 12-time All-Star Hakeem Olajuwon. The second pick went to Portland who drafted Sam Bowie out of Kentucky. Bowie made the NBA All-Rookie Team in 1985 and averaged around 11 points/game over his 10 year NBA career, but...well, let's just say he's not still earning $80 million a year.

Check out this broadcast from 30 years ago. And just a thought, but they really ought to bring back the smooth jazz element to highlight reels.
