Red Sox Trade Rumors: Boston To Trade Mike Napoli, Shane Victorino To Pirates?

The Pirates have considered acquiring Mike Napoli and/or Shane Victorino from the Boston Red Sox, according to Rob Biertempfel of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

The two sides have discussed deals that would send one or both of the duo to Pittsburgh, and while they've been productive, nothing concrete has come of talks to this point.

Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reported that the Red Sox weren’t getting any interest in Napoli, who has hit just .205/.301/.372 in 335 plate appearances this season, meaning Pittsburgh's interest in the first baseman is relatively new. The Pirates are hoping he can rebound and potentially help the Pirates against lefties, while easing their dependence on Pedro Alvarez, who has struggled in the field at first.

Victorino has been injured for much of the past two seasons, but would complement Gregory Polanco in right field while improving the Pirates’ bench/
