Boston Celtics point guard Kyrie Irving will miss the entire NBA Playoffs after undergoing surgery on his left knee last month, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Irving underwent what was thought to be a "minimally invasive" cleanup surgery on his knee, and the team expected to have him back before the end of the regular season.
Boston said the procedure removed a "tension wire" in the knee that was inserted to repair a fractured patella in 2015 but that it was structurally sound. However, it's clear it was more serious than the team though.

The 26-year-old has not played since March 11 due to soreness in that left knee, which led to the surgery. Boston is 12-6 this season without Irving.
Backup point guard Terry Rozier will continue to start in place of Irving.
Irving averaged 24.4 points and 5.1 assists per game this season.
