Jair Jurrjens pitched another gem today, as the Braves won 9-1 over the ROckies. Jurrjens became the first pitcher in the NL with 12 wins. His season so far (12-3 1.89 ERA) are drawing parallels to former Braves pitchers with 12 wins before the All-Star Break: Greg Maddux and Tom Glavine.
In 1991, Tom Glavine had a 12-4 record and a 1.98 ERA before the All-Star Break. In 1998, Greg Maddux had a 12-2 record with an astounding 1.52 ERA. Glavine finished the year 20-11 with a 2.55 ERA. Maddux finished his 1991 campaign with an 18-9 record and a 2.22 ERA. Both astounding numbers.

In the Braves 9-1 victory over the reeling Rockies, former phenom Jordan Schafer went 4-5, Chipper Jones had a two-run homer, and for the second straight night, Dan Uggla hit a home run, this one a two-run bomb. The Ugglometer looks to continue its' upward velocity.
The Braves inched one game closer to Phillies (now only three back) after the Florida Marlins' powerful Mike Stanton hit a walk off homer in the bottom of the 10th inning. This moves the Braves to 3 back of the NL East leading Phils, and moving them an astounding 5 games in first in the Wild Card standings. The Braves have the second most wins in all of the MLB, behind only the Phillies, but the third best record (percentage points behind the NY Yankees). The Braves look in good shape heading into the All-Star Break.
While John Kruk doesn't believe that Jurrjens is the best pitcher in baseball (Surprise! the former Phillie picked Phillies pitcher Roy Halladay), a lot more people are staring to notice Jurrjens' pitching capability. Here's Baseball Tonight and John Kruk's "analysis"
Tomorrow's match up will feature the Braves Ballerina pitcher (7-6 3.57 ERA) Tim Hudson (see the video below, listen to David Ross' reaction, and try not to laugh, i dare you). Versus (3-1 4.10 ERA) Juan Nicasio. The Braves are looking for their 4th straight win.
