Is ASU basketball in danger of playing its way out of the NCAA Tournament?

SEATTLE – As Arizona State struggles, the question gains momentum.

Can the Sun Devils – once considered a contender for a top NCAA Tournament seed – play their way out of March Madness altogether?

The question this week caught CBS Sports bracketologist Jerry Palm off guard.

“Wow, I don’t know,” he said in a phone interview. “Have they had an injury or something that makes you think that can happen?”

In coach Bobby Hurley’s third season, the Sun Devils have led different lives. During the non-conference season, they were college basketball’s best story, the final unbeaten team in the sport.
